Pretty, Pretty Ballerinas

The Fall/Winter 2011 Pretty Ballerinas collection has pirouetted into the Pretty Ballerina store on Victoria Ave. (but for one night only!) But don’t fret the collection will be available to the public this coming August. These ballet flats are a permanent fixture on my feet… I love the cute delicateness of them and how good they feel when I walk around.

You’re about to see a part of the Fall/Winter 2011 Pretty Ballerinas collection… are you ready?!

Here are my faves:

A tribute to the late Alexander McQueen.

Designed with similar characteristics as a real ballet shoe.

I love the gold chain detailing on these ones... very pretty.

Made with actual newspaper.

Fashion Takes Action

For this week’s edition, I am excited to tell you about a “cheeky” event that I attended the other week “Get Your Butt Seen Runway Gala”. C0-Hosted by  the very fashionable, my idol and  Canada’s one and only… Jeanne Beker and the very animated Isabelle Hudon (President, Sun Life Financial Quebec).  Held at the Olympia Theatre, guests (260 of Montreal’s finest) dined on a gourmet dinner while being entertained all night! Huge applause for the night’s fashion show. This was a fun performance featuring some very eye candy like models dressed in hot pieces from Holt’s, the sexy swimwear line Shan, Simone Pérèle, Sixty Nine Jeans, Féraud, Hudson Jeans, American Apparel and Browns. The entire fashion show was choreographed to the high energetic pair: the Pinup Saints. It was pretty damn good. Here is a link to this talented duo’s music. http://pinupsaints.com/promo/

A variety of Quebecois performers as well hit the stage: The Porn Flakes, Joanne Blouin, Pilou, and Genie Bourne ( a cancer survivor and who also does not appear to be a day over 30) also made a special appearance. The night was surprise guests performers after another!

The event raised $175,000 for the Colorectal Cancer  Association of Canada which they will put towards furthering awareness and education programs, supporting patients and their families and also helping assist  in promoting access to effective treatments across Canada. Colorectal cancer is Quebec’s second leading cause of cancer death for men and women combined. Early detection can help save lives- most cases are diagnosed too late. Westmount’s Pretty Ballerinas recently launched their Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Nautical, pretty polka dots and my personal favorite, yellow and lilac painted python are all major players in this collection. Excited? Me too. Check them out:

A keeper forever!

All these styles and more will be at the boutique in March 2011. For further information, please visit: www.prettyballerinas.ca

Hope you had a good week-end!

More delicious news soon- I promise…

Shoe Support

Pretty Ballerinas has created an adorable shoe with proceeds going to support Breast Cancer.  The Rosario Breast Cancer Awareness ballet flat will retail for $275, 10% of each sale will be donated to the Susan Comen for a Cure Foundation www.komen.org

The pretty shoes will be available for purchase in the early fall in a variety of sizes.

Don’t forget, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Pretty, Prettier Ballerina Flats

Don’t get me wrong. I love my high heels, the height they provide me with, the way they make my legs look (longer) and overall, I feel like I can take over the world when I am in my heels! However, one cannot always wear heels (even Victoria Beckham takes hers off once in awhile) and cruising around in cute ballet flats is one of my other preferred shoe-hicles. Enter, Pretty Ballerinas, the chic-est boutique to get all of your ballet flats. They have every design imaginable and keep coming up with more! The store which just opened last September on Victoria in Westmount is the only location in Canada. This fall’s collection (available this August) features: snake, suede, sequins and dogtooth (hounds tooth) pattern. Though these have been featured in the past, new takes on these alluring types will have you handing over your credit card in no time!

Remnants of the past are also found in their shoes. Check out the recycled parachute flats (a tribute to the past WW2, where some shoes were made from recycled parachute) below in lime green and yellow. Take a trip back to Studio 54 in the glass mirrored shoes. The collection is incredibly fun, comfortable and they are sure to be conversation pieces!

Pretty Ballerinas was created in 2005 and is a division of the family owned MASCARÓ Company that has been manufacturing footwear and ballerina slippers since 1918.

Check out the shoes featured below!  Use it as your shoe guide and head over to 392 Victoria Ave, Westmount, Qc.  For further information on the brand and to view more of the collection, please visit http://www.prettyballerinas.ca
